When Was Artcobell Founded?
Founded in 1965 in Temple, Texas, Artcobell takes its name from “Art Company of Bell County” – a novel portmanteau invented by Lyla Hardigree, the wife of the company's founder, R. V. Hardigree. Our name reflects our passion for innovative classroom design and our deep roots in the local community. More than half a century later, we’re still proudly operating from the same facilities, carrying forward that original vision to every school we serve.
-
Who Founded Artcobell?
Before founding Artcobell, R. V. Hardigree was an executive at American Desk. Driven by a passion for better design and a vision for more innovative learning spaces, Hardigree, together with Vice President Noble Oldham and manufacturing lead Luis Vittek, set out to redefine classroom furniture. Their bold leadership and fresh ideas turned Artcobell into a trusted name in modern school environments. In a full-circle moment, Artcobell later acquired American Desk, uniting heritage with forward-thinking progress.
